个人简介：

Dr. Liu received his MS from Chinese Academy of Sciences, China，and PhD from University of Illinois at Urbana‐Champaign, USA. He has been worked under academic, industrial and national laboratories as professor, scientist and senior scientist. Dr. Liu developed the first mRNA reference and a master equation for quantitative gene expression analysis using microarray and qRT‐PCR assays that changed conventional practice for reliable expression data acquisition and analysis.

Dr. Liu is among the pioneers in developing the concept and practice of in situ detoxification of toxic compound derived from biomass pretreatment and investigating genomic mechanisms of stress tolerance for the industrial yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. His clarification of aldehyde rather than furan as the cause of toxicity to cells advanced our understanding of the yeast tolerance. Dr. Liu served as National Research Initiative Project Director, and frequently invited to give lectures or panel speeches for scientific meetings. Dr. Liu was elected Division Chair of Fermentation and Biotechnology, American Society for Microbiology (ASM), and Councilor of ASM. He has over 100 peer‐reviewed publications, 8 patents, 10 book chapters and a monograph. Dr. Liu is Editor of Applied Microbiology & Biotechnology, and Biocatalysis and Agricultural Biotechnology.
